Great stuff, but Mangrum didn't serve at D-Day or the Bulge. He was at Camp Meade in the states during D-Day and arrived in France in late July 1944. He was wounded in a jeep accident in August and was in hospital in England during the Bulge. He returned to duty in Germany in February 1945.
Just a classic human being, RIP play well Peter
One of the greatest amateurs ever.
Viet Nam veteran, PGA Champion Never a Ryder Cup Captain?? What a shame!
Such a smooth swing.
Enjoyed getting to know him when he and his wife visited my restaurant in Newport Beach.
I’ll never forget watching Fred in practice rounds in Augusta and he and Joe would be about 40 feet apart and Fred would hurl the golf ball at him (with zip on it) for Joe to clean. Joe would one hand catch then clean it and underhand it back to Fred. Never seen a player “fast ball” a golf ball to his caddy!
The Gary Grant of Golf for sure !!!
George sure had a tough crowd. 🙄
I've been fortunate to play Jr, collegete, and semi pro golf, met, watched and played with the greats, thank you ladies, for Living the dream....Ms Mallon was a yr older than I, which I tried to fòllow... and copy... thank you Meg!!!
No one more undeserving than this whiny pos.
Legend! So deserving of this
Just Brilliant , what a great speech!
I wish I could have met this great man. You have to be one tough ass man to put up w/ what he did. Nothing but respect and love for Charlie.
Listened to you on the Red Devils podcast. Very good.

How is it that Eddie Lowery is not in the Hall? For chrisake, there's even a statue of him on the grounds.
Over, and over and never get tried just puts a smile on my face.
I saw him playing in Kenya open he is pro a good one.
Chapeau José & Seve … Both incredibly unique gentlemen … A gift to mankind
To be a cool guy you have to be an emotional guy as well. And Fred has them both in spades. What a dude.
That was great😂😂😂😂
I’m 70 years old and I’ve had 3 favorite golfers in my lifetime, the first Tom Weiskopf not sure why except he was 6’3” and so was I and he was married to Miss Ohio and I was married to a beautiful girl at that time .The second was Fred Couples because he was so COOL .The girls loved him and the guys wanted to be him, that syrupy swing we tried to copy and of course we couldn’t. I wish he had had a little Fred.If interested my third was Phil Mickleson for several reasons and I still pull for him but I’m afraid he’s near the end of his golfing career.Im wondering who the next will be. Maybe Fowler
Why is couples in and tom weiskoph is not what a joke!
In hus prume from92-95 there was none beter.
Can't give this as many 👍 as it deserves!
One great player and announcer!

Congratulations to the both of you for your incredible careers and for retiring! Love is love is love and you guys rock!!!!

Langer the great Golfer ⛳️
I listened to Peter broadcasting for well over 30 years, and had the chance to watch him play close up in a Sunday exhibition (with Dai Rees, Neil Coles and Bernard Hunt) at Wenvoe Castle on a wet Welsh afternoon in 1960: magnificent striker, putting a touch iffy. In his development as a broadcaster he took over the mantle of Henry Longhurst and established himself as primus inter pares in those (happily) non politically correct days. Met him once about 20 years ago in front of the main scoreboard at the Hong Kong Open played at Royal Hong Kong GC in Fanling. Hugely courteous, charming and totally without the baggage of modern celebrity. He was already a superstar in the golfing world, and remained so until his passing. He effortlessly bridged golfing eras, and there will never be another like him. This Hall of Fame induction speech is classic Alliss: self-deprecatory, , low key, and very funny. Thanks for posting, it was a pleasure to watch.
Along with Bill McLaren, Peter o'Sullivan, David Coleman, Eddie Wareing and some others, Peter Alliss was one of our greatest commentators, the likes of which we will never see or hear again!
Don’t forget Kenneth Wolstenholme, Harry Carpenter, Brian Johnston, Dan Maskell, Kent Walton, Sid Waddell.
One of the absolute best people ever in the game of golf!!
I had the pleasure of being in his company for a group after dinner chat twice , and it will live with me forever. What a great raconteur and gentleman, he was a one off.
ALL THAT .. without looking down at notes too .. RIP Peter xxx
The wokerati tried to bring him down as well
Seemingly all great golfers are taught the game as was Curtis. But the game itself is a great teacher. It teaches us about life. However, how will we know about the afterlife, without a great teacher. Only Jesus Christ rose from the dead. He is the great teacher.
I remember one of his earliest forays into television in the US - 1980 when David Graham won the US Open at Merrion. I was watching the golf in Gillane's bar on Cricket Avenue in Ardmore and when Peter joined the commentary crew, with all his little asides and anecdotes, the yanks in the bar were all asking: 'Who is this guy'!
Simply the best nobody can match him.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Peter Alliss was wonderful to listen to, and THIS…is the GREATEST acceptance speech I’ve EVER heard! Rest In Peace Peter. You are TRULY missed!
